“Have you noticed how today’s smartwatches are increasingly resembling hospitals on your wrist, and how wireless earbuds can even be inserted deep into the ear canal? Behind this lies a physical challenge pushing the limits of a ‘battle for space’. When chips have been miniaturised to the point where they are almost invisible to the naked eye (such as the DFN0603 package), how can our Haidelong carrier tape provide them with a stable and secure ‘home’ within a width of just a few millimetres?” With the surge in AI glasses following the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro, demand for miniature MLCCs and discrete components is set to skyrocket in Q2 2026. However, many factories report that the smaller the components, the more prone they are to ‘tape jams’ or ‘component flipping’. This is often not due to substandard placement machines, but rather because the carrier tape—that ‘guardian angel’—has lost its accuracy.
At Xiamen Haidelong’s factory in the Xiang’an Torch High-Tech Zone, we are pushing the limits of thickness tolerance to 0.005mm using a world-first three-layer composite process. Take theDFN0603in your hand, for example; this is likely one of the most precise carrier tapes currently in commercial mass production. When dealing with 0603 components—which are even smaller than grains of sand—traditional carriers simply cannot cope. We utilise 100% in-house developed PS conductive masterbatch to ensure that surface resistance remains stable at 10⁶–10⁸ Ω, even in dry northern workshops during winter (or the constant-temperature environments of data centres), thereby eliminating the risk of electrostatic breakdown.

Note: The entire Haidelong product range is insured by PICC and has been featured in brand advertisements broadcast on CCTV; every roll of carrier tape carries the ‘champion quality’ gene.

Q: With such a narrow carrier tape, won’t vibration cause components to stand on end during high-speed placement?
A: That’s a very professional question! This is precisely why we maintain a K0 of 0.20mm (many competitors opt for 0.25mm or higher to cut corners). It’s like a seatbelt: if it’s too loose, it’s useless. Our real-world test data, combined with the ‘Absolute Defence’ spirit championed by world wrestling champion Jing Ruixue, ensures that through precise K0 control, components are ‘locked’ securely in place. Even when the placement machine is running at full speed, they remain completely still.
